Counselor Profiles
Hello, I am Daniel Earle, a native of Des Moines. I returned to the area years ago from Chicago where I attended graduate school in order to practice counseling and psychology in a community that I sincerely care about. During that time I have been focusing my priorities on my wife, three sons and daughter, and on providing outreach services and working with people in individual and relationship counseling.
For the fifteen years I have provided counseling services, I have maintained my conviction that the mind, body and spirit are integrated and uniquely important in every person’s life.
I actively use a broad spectrum of clinical therapy principles as I work with individuals, couples and families who present with a wide variety of difficulties. My clinical experience includes working with problems such as anxiety, depression, communication, stress, interpersonal conflict, marital relationships, vocation, life transitions and many other psychological and emotional issues.
I am also very active in providing outreach and educational resources for community groups and church ministries. I regularly present workshops and presentations on topics such as premarital preparation, marriage enrichment, parent skill building, blended families and career assessment.

Welcome to Glen Haven! I am Cora Schuhmacher. I am originally from Eastern Iowa and a Simpson College alumna. I am happy to be living and working back in the area after several years in Pasadena, CA for graduate school. I am passionate about providing counseling and consultative services to individuals, families and organizations in the Des Moines area. I currently live in West Des Moines with my Shih-Tzu, Lola.
In my time in the mental health field, I have come to learn that healthy relationships are the key to a healthy, satisfied individual. My clinical work centers on working with people to help them build healthy, supportive relationships in their lives. I have a practical approach to therapy and want what my clients learn in therapy to be useful in their daily life. I have interests in the areas of chronic pain management, working with veterans, learning disability, cancer survivors and caregivers, ADHD, and cognitive evaluation, divorce, sexuality, anxiety, relaxation training, career development, communication, depression, interpersonal conflict, life transitions, stress, trauma recovery, and many other psychological and emotional issues. I have experience working with adults, older teens, couples, and families and have begun to incorporate pet therapy into my work.
I believe that the mind-body-spirit connection is a strong one, and psychotherapy must be sensitive to each of these areas to facilitate healing. I've had specialized training in the integration of psychology and spirituality. I received my Masters in Christian Leadership from Fuller Seminary and believe that spiritual health and psychological health are intimately related.
I also believe in the importance of healthy and safe communities, and I'm passionate about offering services to help develop our community. I am pleased to provide consultative services and offer several workshops for churches, businesses, schools and other various community organizations. Workshops that I offer center on topics of marital enrichment, stress management, finding meaning and purpose in life, sexuality education, and parenting skills. These workshops are often offered in conjunction with Dr. Earle.

Greetings! I am Krista Brittain, the newest addition to Glen Haven. I am delighted to be returning home to Iowa after having lived elsewhere for the past five years. It is a joy to live closer to my family and friends. I grew up in Boone, studied Psychology and Dance at the University of Iowa, and went on to the University of Denver in Colorado for my graduate work. When I am not working, I spend time with family and friends, watch football, and practice yoga.
I have been incredibly blessed in a number of ways in my life, not the least of which is the opportunity to have found a career I am so inspired by. I am proud and honored to do my life’s work as a psychologist. I have experience working with individuals (children, adolescents, and adults) and couples, as well as community groups and organizations. I have interest in working with a broad spectrum of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties/concerns, communication, sexuality, identity concerns, personality patterns and disorders, attention difficulties, coping with traumatic experiences, grief/loss, life stress, among other concerns.
In my approach to clinical work, I believe that a solid understanding of oneself is the key to good mental and emotional health. This typically involves discussing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships as well as cultural variables and past experiences. I feel that it is of the utmost importance for me to get to know you as a person before I can be helpful to you, so I also focus quite a bit of attention on the therapeutic relationship itself. I also believe that mental/emotional health is only one part of overall health. We may also discuss other aspects of health, such as physical health, spiritual health, relational health, etc.
In addition to therapy/counseling, I also specialize in educational, cognitive, diagnostic, and psychological testing. Testing can help you to identify and better understand ADHD, learning difficulties, mood, anxiety, and other symptoms or diagnoses as well as illuminate personality and relationship patterns that may be contributing to stress or difficulties. As I continue to grow into my position at Glen Haven, I will become involved in community outreach as well. It is extremely important to give back to and address relevant issues in the community. If you would like to request a community workshop or presentation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
