Glen Haven's approach to family therapy is based on our belief that families are unique systems with their own structure and patterns of communication, and influence; and are influenced by their external environment. Individual family members influence the entire family system, and likewise, the system influences each family member. In summary, families are complex entities.
Family therapy, then, can be a complex process. We tailor our approach to uniquely fit each family we encounter since each family's conflict arises differently. We address structural problems and unhealthy patterns of communication, provide education regarding optimal family functioning, seek to find ways to relieve and/or effectively cope with external stress, and improve emotional connection between family members. Our overall goal is for families to function healthily.

Glen Haven Counseling Resources is an independently owned and operated counseling center offering professional therapy services which are consistent with Christian traditions and values. All clinical services are offered for individuals, couples and families. Our staff consists of one clinical psychologist and an office manager. We serve central Iowa and we are located in a convenient location, right off of I-80 in West Des Moines.
